Goody's 500 at Martinsville Speedway
April 6, 2010The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest
- Joey Logano and The Home Depot Team have made huge strides from one year ago, improving performances at almost every track he has visited during the 2010 NASCAR season. The team looks to continue that trend this weekend in Phoenix. Logano was unable to finish on the lead lap during the 2009 Phoenix races in which he scored a pair of 21st-place finishes.
- Logano gained four spots in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings with his runner-up finish at Martinsville Speedway two weeks ago. Logano now sits 13th in the standings, just six points out of the 12th spot and cut-off for the Chase for the Championship. In six starts this season, Logano has bettered his finish in five of the six events from last year. He is averaging a 14.5 spot improvement in each race from the start of 2009.
- Meet Logano! Fans of Logano can meet him at The Home Depot store #453 in Peoria, Ariz. on Thursday, April 8 from 5 – 7 p.m. The store is located at 9201 West Peoria Ave. There will be a children’s workshop, photo opportunities with the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota and an autograph signing by Logano. Wristbands for the signing will be given out one hour prior to the first 700 fans in line.
- Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store # 3404 in Seabrook, NH and store #902 from Lakewood, NJ. The Home Depot Toyota will carry the two store numbers this weekend in the Subway Fresh Fit 600 in Phoenix on Saturday.
- The No. 20 Team is taking chassis #269 to Phoenix International Raceway this weekend. This is a new chassis in The Home Depot Team’s arsenal. The back-up car, chassis #250 was raced three times last season including the fall race at Phoenix and additionally in the fall events at Loudon and Pocono.
- Logano will be running double-duty again this weekend in Phoenix. Aside from the piloting the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota in Saturday evening’s race, Logano will drive the No. 20 Toyota in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Friday.

Logano Quotes:
On Phoenix…
"Phoenix was a tough track for me and The Home Depot Team last year. The strange thing is I really like the track and I don’t know why. Usually when you don’t run well someplace you don’t like it, but it’s really a fun track. Last fall I feel like at the end of the race we got a lot better. So we should be able to build off of that heading into this weekend. If we get a top 10 this weekend at Phoenix that would be big for this team considering the struggles last year and I think we can do it."
On the season so far…
"I am really happy with the way the season is going. I finished second at Martinsville and to me that’s my best finish and race I’ve run in the Cup Series. I was hoping that we’d improve enough to finish in the top 10, but to finish second was huge. If you look at the points we are only 42 points out of eighth. We had top-10 cars at Bristol and Atlanta and didn’t get the finishes. If we had then we would be in the top five. That’s encouraging and exciting for this team. Last year was tough on everyone and now we are starting to see our hard work and everyone’s patience paying off."
