Richmond 400 at Richmond International Raceway Advance

The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest

  • The Home Depot Team returns to the short track of Richmond International Raceway this weekend for the 10th race of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Sophomore pilot Joey Logano competed in the No. 20 Toyota Camry twice last season and posted top-20 finishes in both events.
  • Logano and The Home Depot Team slipped four spots in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings following their 36th-place effort at Talladega on Sunday but are still within striking distance of the top 12. Logano is now 16th in points, just 81 markers behind the 12th-place driver Jeff Burton with 17 races remaining before the cut off to the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
  • Logano and The Home Depot Team have seen tremendous improvement on the short track this season and look to carry that success to Richmond. In the three races at tracks one-mile or shorter Logano finished 27th at Bristol after earning the pole and suffering a flat tire, second at Martinsville and 10th at Phoenix.
  • Logano will participate in the 2010 Short Track Showdown for the Denny Hamlin Foundation on Thursday evening at Southside Speedway in Midlothian, Va. Logano will drive a Home Depot Late Model in the event which raises awareness and money for individuals afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis. Gates open at 4 p.m. with the race beginning at 7:30 p.m. Other drivers participating include Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart and many other NASCAR stars. Tickets can be purchased at the track or at http://www.dennyhamlinfoundation.org/tickets/.
  • Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store #809 Sylacauga, Ala. The store number will ride along with Logano and The Home Depot Team this weekend under the lights at Richmond. Sylacauga, "The Marble City", is constructed on a solid deposit of the hardest, whitest marble in the world. The bed is approximately 32 miles long by one and one half miles wide and 400 feet deep. Some of the most beautiful buildings in the country, such as the United States Supreme Court, the Al Jolson Shrine in California, the Woolworth building in Houston, Texas and many others have been constructed and ornamented with Sylacauga marble.
  • The No. 20 Team is taking chassis #269 to Richmond International Raceway for Saturday evening race under the lights. The team has run this chassis one other time this season at Phoenix International Raceway where Logano qualified sixth and finished 10th. The backup chassis is #250 which was run three times last year (the fall races at Pocono, Loudon and Phoenix) but has not been on the track this season.

Logano Quotes:

On Richmond…

"I'm hoping Richmond will help us recover from Talladega. We ran really strong last year and finished in the top 20 in both races which was really good for us last season. Even though I didn't get the finish last weekend, once again we had a really strong Home Depot Toyota. Every week the team has given me a solid race car and we have been able to run up toward the front. We need a solid run to get us back up in points. "

On Hamlin's Charity Event…

"I'm excited about running in Denny’s charity event at Southside Speedway. That’s his old home track. I'll be driving the Home Depot Toyota Late Model out there. That will be different. I did this event last year, had a ton of fun and look forward to getting back out there and raising money for his foundation."
