All-Star Race Charlotte Motor Speedway Advance
May 22, 2010The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest
- The Home Depot Team and crew chief Greg Zipadelli have competed in every All-Star race since the team’s inception in 1999. Last year, without a guaranteed spot, Logano received the Sprint Fan Vote to keep the tradition alive. This year the team will be making its 12th-consecutive start in the event after winning at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last year to be eligible for the 100-lap shootout.
- Logano and The Home Depot Team are currently 18th in the Sprint Cup Series point standings following a 10th-place finish at Dover last Sunday. Logano moved within 102 points of 12th place, the cut off to the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
- 20 in the 20! Logano will turn 20 on May 24 as the driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota. Fans can watch videos of Logano at http://www.homedepotracing.com/photos-and-videos.aspx telling them the 20 things they should know about him before he turns 20. The final video will be posted on May 22. This week’s installment includes what sport he played other than racing, the TV show he can watch over and over and the one place not to ask him for an autograph.
- Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store #732 from Nashville, Tenn. The store number will ride along with Logano this weekend in the All-Star Race. The Home Depot Foundation and associates from The Home Depot joined in the relief efforts in the aftermath of the floods that have caused significant damage in Nashville and throughout Middle Tennessee. The Home Depot Foundation has committed $100,000 to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, which has mobilized two relief funds, the Metro Nashville Disaster Response Fund and the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund.
- The No. 20 Team is taking chassis #262 to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. Logano ran this chassis to a fifth-place finish at California Speedway earlier this season.
- The No. 20 Home Depot Crew will be participating in the Pit Challenge on Wednesday night in Charlotte. The 24 eligible teams will be seeded and go head-to-head for bragging rights on pit road. The event begins at 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on SpeedTV at 9 p.m. ET.
- The Home Depot and Logano will participate in Taylor’s Finish Line Festival on Sunday, May 23 at the drag strip at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Taylor’s Finish Line Festival was created by J.D. and Melissa Gibbs who wanted to host a family-friendly event to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Levine Children’s Hospital. Tickets are $25 and the festival gates will open at 2:30 p.m., and will include appearances by NASCAR drivers and other professional athletes, carnival rides, midway games, go-karts, a BMX stunt show, a freestyle motocross show and a live concert featuring Toby Mac. For more information visit www.finishlinefestival.com.
- The Home Depot and the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) will once again team up in 2010 to present the Home Depot NMPA Humanitarian Award. This is the fourth year the award is being presented and the winner of the award will be announced during the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brother Awards luncheon in Las Vegas. The award recognizes an individual in the NASCAR community that has displayed a dedication to helping others and improving communities through their service and giving. The winner will receive a $100,000 cash donation made by The Home Depot to the recipient’s charity of choice and a specially-designed crystal award. Two finalists will each receive $25,000 cash donations to their designated non-profit organizations.

Logano Quotes:
On the All-Start Race…
"This really is one of the coolest races all year. The atmosphere is cool and it really puts the focus on the entire team. You have 100 laps and critical pit calls and pit stops to figure out how to finish first. Last year was so cool to win the fan vote. I don’t think the fans and Home Depot associates that got me voted in understand how much that meant to me. I know the entire team is looking forward to it this weekend. Plus I get to drive a solid orange Home Depot Toyota that should look awesome under the lights."
