Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 – Pocono Raceway Advance

June 2, 2010

The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest

  • The Home Depot Team and Joey Logano head to Pocono Raceway this weekend in the mountains of Pennsylvania for the start of the second half of the Race to The Chase.  Logano will be making his third start at the 2.5-mile tri-oval this weekend. His best finish in Pocono is 23rd, one year ago. However, last fall he was running in the top 10 when his left-rear tire went down with 35 to go, and then he ended up caught up in a wreck at the end of the race, to finish 27th.
  • Logano and The Home Depot Team are currently 18th in the Sprint Cup Series point standings following a 13th-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Logano cut his deficit down to 82 points to 12th place, the cutoff to the Chase for the Sprint Cup. He gained 20 points on the 12th-place driver last weekend and is just 32 points behind 17th-place driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., and 59 behind Tony Stewart in 16th.
  • Meet Logano!  Fans of Logano can meet him at The Home Depot store #4127 in Stroudsburg, Pa. on Thursday, June 3 from 5-7 p.m. The store is located at 150 Pocono Commons.  There will be a children's workshop, photo opportunities with the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota and an autograph signing by Logano.  Wristbands for the signing will be given out one hour prior to the first 700 fans in line.
  • Welcome aboard to The Home Depot associates from store #6319 in Bradenton, Fla.  The store number will ride along with Logano this weekend in the Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500. The area now called the City of Bradenton was discovered in 1539 by Hernando de Soto when he landed to begin his 4,000 mile trek in search of El Dorado, "the lost city of gold."
  • The No. 20 Team is taking chassis #247 to Pocono this weekend for the 200-lap event.  This is the second race for this chassis in 2010.  Logano drove this car to a 10th-place finish at Dover just three weeks ago. The Home Depot Team utilized this chassis four times last season, and earned top-10 finishes at Michigan and Charlotte with it.
  • The Home Depot and the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) will once again team up in 2010 to present the Home Depot NMPA Humanitarian Award. This is the fourth year the award is being presented and the winner of the award will be announced during the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brother Awards luncheon in Las Vegas. The Award recognizes an individual in the NASCAR community who has displayed a dedication to helping others and improving communities through their service and giving. The winner will receive a $100,000 cash donation made by The Home Depot to the recipient's charity of choice and a specially-designed crystal award. Two finalists will each receive $25,000 cash donations to their designated non-profit organizations.

Logano Quotes:

On racing at Pocono…

"Pocono is Pocono – it's okay and it's definitely a different type of track than any other on the circuit. It's a tough place to get the car good because all the turns there are so different. It's just a balance to try to get close everywhere in order to get the car drivable in all the corners.  I like racing there and it's definitely fun to get to a racetrack that is a little different."

"Last year, Pocono was the first track that I saw for a second time in a Cup car and we made a lot of gains in the August race.  We were running in the top 10 with 35 to go when I felt the left-rear tire go down.  Once you get back in the pack, it's tough to make up that much ground in that short of time. Unfortunately, that put us in the back of the pack and the 6 car got into the 96 and I was outside of them with nowhere to go. We tore up a great race car that should have easily finished in the top 15."
