Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 – Michigan International Speedway Advance
June 9, 2010The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest
- The Home Depot Team and Joey Logano return to the Irish Hills of Michigan for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 this weekend, Logano’s third race at the 2-mile track. Logano competed in the top 10 throughout much of the 200-lap race and finished the day with a seventh-place finish last August – a dramatically different performance than his first trip to the track. Logano finished 25th in his first race to Michigan International Speedway (MIS) after falling a lap down early.
- Logano and The Home Depot Team gained one spot in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings with their 13th-place finish at Pocono Raceway on Sunday. Logano now sits 101 points out of the 12th spot with 12 races remaining before the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship. He is just 14 points behind Dale Earnhardt, Jr. who is 16th in points and 36 out of the top 15.
- Logano will be running double-duty this weekend and traveling back and forth between MIS and Kentucky Speedway this weekend. He became the youngest winner in NASCAR Nationwide Series history at Kentucky when he was just 18 years old in his third-career Nationwide Series start. He became the first driver to become a two-time winner at the track last year.
- Logano will participate in the sixth-annual Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Wednesday. Logano will race a Home Depot dirt late model stock car teamed with fellow Cup drivers Kasey Kahne, Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte and Bill Elliott, and NHRA drag racer Cruz Pedregon. Their winnings will benefit Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Tickets for the event are available at www.PreludeToTheDream.org, and a live, commercial-free broadcast will be available on HBO Pay-Per-View at 7 p.m. ET.
- Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store #6574 in Galveston, Texas. The store number will ride along with Logano this weekend at MIS. The first edition of Galveston County’s The Daily News appeared on April 11, 1842, making it the oldest continuously published newspaper in Texas.
- The No. 20 Team is taking chassis #272 to Michigan this weekend for the 200-lap event. This is the second race for this chassis in 2010. Logano drove this car to a 13th-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway two weeks ago. The back-up car is chassis #266 that completed earlier this season in Darlington.
- The Home Depot and the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) will once again team up in 2010 to present the Home Depot NMPA Humanitarian Award. This is the fourth year the award is being presented and the winner of the award will be announced during the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brother Awards luncheon in Las Vegas. The award recognizes an individual in the NASCAR community that has displayed a dedication to helping others and improving communities through their service and giving. The winner will receive a $100,000 cash donation made by The Home Depot to the recipient’s charity of choice and a specially-designed crystal award. Two finalists will each receive $25,000 cash donations to their designated non-profit organizations.

Logano Quotes:
"From my perspective, last week was last week. My focus is Michigan and Kentucky. We finished seventh at Michigan last August and feel like we can at least do that well here this weekend and hope to even improve on that. Michigan was one of the tracks where I felt like we made huge gains the second time around and so far this year we've continued to get better when we go back to tracks for the 3rd time. We’re 100 (or so) points out of the Chase and every race is going to be important to make up ground and be in contention when Richmond comes around. "
"I will be going back and forth to Kentucky and try to defend my race win there. As of now the plan is to head over Friday to practice the Nationwide car after qualifying the Home Depot Toyota and be back for final Cup practices on Saturday."
