June 15, 2010The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest
- The Home Depot Team and Joey Logano head to Sonoma, Cal. for the first road-course race of the season in the Toyota/Save Mart 250 at Infineon Raceway. Logano was running in the eighth position last year when he was forced to pit on lap 84 of 110 after contact with the No. 82 car. He fell back to 36th, but rallied in the final 25 laps to finish 19th.
- Logano and The Home Depot Team remain 17th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver point standings after their 10th-place finish at Michigan International Raceway on Sunday. Logano has gained significant ground on the 13th through 16th-place cars, and only sits 107 points out of 12th, the cut-off to the Chase for the Sprint Cup. He is however just 14 points out of 16th and 64 points out of 13th.
- Logano is Racing to Play on Thursday! Logano, along with members of the Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) team and The Home Depot associate volunteers, will be building a racing-themed playground in Hayward, Calif., just south of Oakland. The Eden Green Park Playground is located at 25339 Soto Rd. and will be the 34th Racing to Play playground built over the last six years. Racing to Play is a partnership between The Home Depot, Joe Gibbs Racing and KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization whose vision is to create a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America.

- Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store #722 of Bellevue, Tenn. The store number will adorn the lower rear quarter panels of the No. 20 Toyota Camry this weekend at Infineon Raceway. Bellevue is one of the many towns affected by the severe flooding in Tennessee in May. The Home Depot Foundation committed $100,000 to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, which has mobilized two relief funds, the Metro Nashville Disaster Response Fund and the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund.
- The No. 20 Team is taking chassis #234 to Sonoma this weekend for the 110-lap event. Logano drove this chassis in both road-course races in 2009 finishing 19th at Infineon and 16th at Watkins Glen. The back-up chassis is #180 which has never competed but served as the back-up car last year.
- The Home Depot and the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) will once again team up in 2010 to present the Home Depot NMPA Humanitarian Award. This is the fourth year the award is being presented and the winner of the award will be announced during the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brother Awards luncheon in Las Vegas. The award recognizes an individual in the NASCAR community that has displayed a dedication to helping others and improving communities through their service and giving. The winner will receive a $100,000 cash donation made by The Home Depot to the recipient's charity of choice and a specially-designed crystal award. Logano Quotes:
"I really enjoy going to the Sonoma, I like that we race on all different types of tracks. To me Sonoma is almost like a short track, there's a lot of beating and banging and the speeds never get really high. Having forward drive is key because there are some really tight, slow turns and it's important to get off them well. I ran pretty well last year in the Home Depot Toyota, but had a run in late in the race. If you can stay on the course for the entire race you are going to get a good finish."
"We tested at VIR a few weeks ago in preparation for this week. We tried some things and learned some things. I also go over my notes and get on the simulator to refresh my memory a little. It usually only takes a few laps to get it back, but anything I can do to help be quick off the truck I will do."
