Lifelock.com 400 Chicagoland Speedway Advance
July 7, 2010The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest
- The Home Depot Team and Joey Logano return to Joliet, Ill., and Chicagoland Speedway this weekend. This will be just Logano's second start at the 1.5-mile tri-oval. In his rookie campaign, he walked away with an 18th-place finish in the LifeLock.com 400 after losing a lap early and battling back to the lead lap.
- Then and Now: One year ago, through the midpoint of the 2009 season, Logano and The Home Depot Team were sitting 20th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings with 1,847 points and 319 out of 12th. They had accumulated one top-five (the win at Loudon) and four top-10 finishes. This season, following race 18, Logano and the team are sitting 18th with 1,997 points and 173 out of 12th. They have earned two top-five and seven top-10 finishes this season.
- Logano and The Home Depot Team dropped two spots in the standings after finishing 29th last weekend at Daytona International Speedway. Logano was running in the top 15 with 12 laps to go when he was caught up in a multi-car wreck. The Home Depot Team attempted to repair the car enough to finish the race but was unable to safely return Logano to the track. Logano is now 18th in the standings, 173 out of the cutoff to the Chase to the Sprint Cup with eight races remaining.
- Meet Logano! Fans of Logano can meet him at The Home Depot store #6925 in Shorewood, Ill., on Thursday, July 8 from 5 – 7 p.m. The store is located at 621 Brook Forest Ave. There will be a children's workshop, photo opportunities with the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota and an autograph signing by Logano. Wristbands for the signing will be given out one hour prior to the first 700 fans in line.
- Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store #3889 in Marysville, Ohio. The store number will ride along with Logano on the rear quarter panel of The Home Depot Toyota this weekend in Chicago. Located in Union County, the town was laid out by a settler named Samuel Culberson in 1819 on Millcreek, and was named after his daughter Mary.
- The No. 20 Team is taking chassis #272 this weekend for the Lifelock.com 400. This is the third race for this chassis in 2010. Logano drove this car to a 13th-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and finished 10th in June at Michigan International Speedway.
- The Home Depot and the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) will once again team up in 2010 to present The Home Depot NMPA Humanitarian Award. This is the fourth year the award is being presented and the winner of the award will be announced during the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brother Awards luncheon in Las Vegas. The award recognizes an individual in the NASCAR community who has displayed a dedication to helping others and improving communities through their service and giving. The winner will receive a $100,000 cash donation made by The Home Depot to the recipient's charity of choice and a specially designed crystal award. Two finalists will each receive $25,000 cash donations to their designated nonprofit organizations.
