Brickyard 400, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Advance

July 21, 2010

The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest

  • Joey Logano returns to Indianapolis Motor Speedway where he turned in a brilliant debut performance at the historic track last year after having to start from the rear of the field due to an engine change. Leaning on the Home Depot Team's years of experience at the 2.5-mile prestigious track, Logano exercised patience beyond his years and raced to a 12th-place finish in his very first Brickyard 400.
  • Logano and The Home Depot Team sit 19th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings following the race at Chicagoland Speedway. Having accumulated 2,103 points this season, he is just two points out of the 18th position held by Jamie McMurray and 183 points out of 12th, the cutoff to the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
  • Crew chief Greg Zipadelli and The Home Depot Team guided the No. 20 car to victory lane twice at IMS in 11 starts. The first was an emotional victory for Indiana-native Tony Stewart in 2005 and again in 2007. In total, The Home Depot Team has two wins, four top-five and six top-10 finishes. Last year the team finished 12th in the Brickyard 400.
  • Meet Logano and Zipadelli! Fans of Logano and Zipadelli can meet them at The Home Depot store #2014 in Indianapolis on Thursday, July 22 from 5 – 7 p.m. The store is located at 3902 N. High School Rd. There will be a children's workshop, photo opportunities with the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota and an autograph signing by Logano and Zipadelli. Wristbands for the signing will be given out one hour prior to the first 700 fans in line.
  • Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store #3901 in Oklahoma City and store #373 Chalmette, La. The store numbers will ride along with Logano on the rear quarter panel of The Home Depot Toyota this weekend for the 160-lap race.
  • The No. 20 Team is taking chassis #275 this weekend for the Brickyard 400. This is a new chassis in the fleet for The Home Depot Team. The back-up car is chassis #266 which Logano drove at Darlington earlier this season.
  • The Home Depot and the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) will once again team up in 2010 to present the Home Depot NMPA Humanitarian Award. This is the fourth year the award is being presented and the winner of the award will be announced during the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brother Awards luncheon in Las Vegas. The award recognizes an individual in the NASCAR community who has displayed dedication to helping others and improving communities through their service and giving. The winner will receive a $100,000 cash donation made by The Home Depot to the recipient's charity of choice and a specially-designed crystal award. Two finalists will each receive $25,000 cash donations to their designated non-profit organizations.

Logano Quotes on Indianapolis:

"Indy is a tough place to pass, that I remember well. We started dead last in 2009 because we changed engines in The Home Depot Toyota and it was not easy to move through the field. I finished 12th, but did all my passing on the restarts and luckily had a good enough car to do that. I don’t know what the spoiler is going to do to the cars this year, but I am sure qualifying is going to be really important again."

"We need to get some momentum going, and I think we have some solid tracks for the team coming up, starting with the Indy. I know we finished 12th last year, but I felt like our car was better than that."
