Pennsylvania 500, Pocono Raceway Advance
July 28, 2010The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest
- The Home Depot Team returns to Pocono Raceway this weekend after finishing ninth at The Brickyard in Indianapolis last weekend. Joey Logano was running in the fifth position with two laps to go in the Gillette ProGlide 500 at Pocono in June when he was spun by another competitor. Logano was able to rally in the closing laps after restarting from the 30th position, missing a huge multi-car incident, to finish in the 13th position.
- Logano and The Home Depot Team sit 19th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings following the race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Logano is just 58 points out of the 15th position held by Ryan Newman and 205 points out of 12th, the cut off to the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
- The Home Depot Team earned its eighth top 10 of the season at the Brickyard 400 on Sunday, surpassing the team’s number of top-10 finishes in 2009. For the second year in a row the team had to start 43rd after an engine change on Friday. The team showed patience and perseverance as Logano battled through traffic in the prestigious event to finish ninth.
- Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store #3919 from Quail Springs, Okla. The store number will ride along with Logano on the rear quarter panel of The Home Depot Toyota this weekend for the Pennsylvania 500. It is fitting the Quail Springs store is featured this week on the car, although it is located in the northern part of Oklahoma City, the street address is…Pennsylvania Ave.
- The No. 20 Team is taking chassis #278 this weekend for the 200-lap event at Pocono Raceway. This is another new chassis in The Home Depot Team stable. The back-up car is chassis #247 which Logano drove to a 10th-place finish at Dover, and at the Pocono race in June where he ran in the top five until the late-race incident.
- The Home Depot and the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) will once again team up in 2010 to present The Home Depot NMPA Humanitarian Award. This is the fourth year the award is being presented and the winner of the award will be announced during the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brother Awards luncheon in Las Vegas. The award recognizes an individual in the NASCAR community that has displayed a dedication to helping others and improving communities through their service and giving. The winner will receive a $100,000 cash donation made by The Home Depot to the recipient’s charity of choice and a specially-designed crystal award. Two finalists will each receive $25,000 cash donations to their designated non-profit organizations.

Logano Quotes on Pocono:
"I can't say enough about The Home Depot Team last weekend. It would be nice to actually start from somewhere other than the back at Indy, especially since it is one of the hardest places to pass. But to finish ninth says a lot about this team."
"Obviously last Pocono was frustrating, because typically I haven't run well there. So for us to be running in the top five was a pretty big deal. It also shows that we can run up front, but it's still a tough place. We have a new car this weekend that the guys back at the shop have been working hard on, so I'm looking forward to this race."
