TUMS Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway
October 21, 2009The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest
- Joey Logano returns to Martinsville Speedway for the second time in a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car. Logano drove The Home Depot Toyota to a 32nd-place finish in just his sixth start in the orange and white Toyota Camry. With limited practice and qualifying canceled due to rain, Logano was running in the top 25 when the right-front tire blew out on lap 186. He returned to the track and was consistently running with the top 10 drivers, but due to the green flag pit stop to put on fresh tires he was several laps down.
- The Home Depot Team and Logano remain 20th in the Sprint Cup Series point standings. Logano's fifth-place finish in Charlotte last weekend secured the position and moved him closer to 19th. He is currently 59 points behind Jeff Burton in 19th and 72 points out of 18th with five racing remaining in the 2009 season.
- Special Scheme: For the first and only time this season, the No. 20 Camry will sport a new look. Farm Bureau Insurance will adorn the hood of the car and share sponsorship with The Home Depot for the TUMS Fast Relief 500.
- Welcome aboard The Home Depot Associates from store # 4725 in Longview, Wash. The store number will ride along with Logano this weekend at Martinsville Speedway. Longview began as a logging town and is situated between Seattle and Portland, Oregon.
- The No. 20 Team is taking chassis #252 to the track this weekend for the 500-lap event in Virginia. This chassis will be making just its second start of the season. Logano drove chassis #252 to a 14th-place finish at Richmond six weeks ago.
- Logano leads Scott Speed by 29 points (226-197) in the Raybestos Rookie standings entering this weekend's event at Martinsville. He earned Rookie of the Race honors for the 22nd time this season. He became just the third rookie to finish in the top five in the fall race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The other two drivers were Ron Bouchard (fifth in 1981) and Jeff Gordon (fifth in 1993). He is also the first rookie driver to score a top-10 at Charlotte in the fall since 2003.
- The Home Depot and ISC are teaming up to give race fans the opportunity to score a Mystery Gift Card to The Home Depot. The Home Depot Mystery Gift Cards will be included in every souvenir race program sold this weekend at Martinsville. Gift cards will range in awards from $1 to $1,000. Be sure to purchase your souvenir race programs at Martinsville Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, Phoenix International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway and then head to The Home Depot to see the mystery that awaits.
- HomeDepotRacing.com has been revamped for the 2009 season. Fans can track Joey's races and appearances throughout the season, read about his experiences during his rookie campaign in Joey's Journal and ask Joey questions that he will answer for fans.

Logano Quotes:
On Martinsville…
"Last week at Charlotte was big for the team. We've had a rough few weeks so we really needed a good run to get some momentum heading into the last few races, and Martinsville is a challenging track. First and foremost, you have to keep the fenders on the car. But you also have to worry about saving your brakes and keeping your tires cool. It's easy to burn the tires up. We had a right front tire blow out in March and had to make a green flag stop. It put us several laps down. But once I got back out on the track and had some laps under my belt, we were running with the top 10 guys.
"I think it's realistic to finish in the top 10 this weekend. That would be great for The Home Depot Team. We need to fight to stay in the top 20 in points and hopefully gain a few spots before the season is over."
